Black Gully Festival Armidale

Get ready to dive into the Black Gully Festival this weekend – an epic, family-friendly, free event held behind Armidale’s NERAM on the Black Gully Reserve.

Black Gully Festival Armidale – 11 November 2023

Soak up the good vibes of Armidale and surrounds at the Black Gully Festival this weekend. With a focus on music, art, the environment, and good ol’ fashioned community fun, Black Gully Festival is a community-driven event set to be a good time for all involved!

With live music, jam sessions and entertainment starting from 10.00am, you can soak up the sounds of local talent from across the region – dance to bands, soloists and small group performances on three stages. Got acoustics on your brain? Grab a seat in NERAM’s cafe courtyard at the Acoustic Stage and be serenaded while you drink coffee or get a bite to eat from the Six Counties cafe.

Alongside live music, Black Gully has a bunch of cool activities and workshops on offer, including kids’ art activities, clothes swapping, seed ball making and slow living workshops that cover everything from permaculture to composting and fermentation. Looking for a way to move more mindfully while in the garden? Join Jemimah Hiscox from Moved Armidale as she helps you become more aware of the way your body moves through workshops held over the course of the day.

But that’s not all – enjoy displays and demonstrations from environmental champions like Southern New England Landcare and Sustainable Living Armidale, and wander through the huge range of makers’ markets where local artisans show off their crafts. While you there, be sure to fill up on yummy treats from an array of food trucks.

This year, two of the Black Gully Festival’s partners are celebrating their 40th anniversaries – the Armidale Tree Group and the New England Regional Art Museum. Explore NERAM’s exhibitions, featuring a mix of classic and contemporary art, and show your support to the Armidale Tree Group which has spent the past four decades planting trees to sustain biodiversity – this year they’re raising funds to build a new bridge in Black Gully and to keep their tree-planting magic alive.

Check out the event here, or head to the official Black Gully Festival website for all the latest news and updates. It's going to be a fun-packed weekend – make sure to bring a trusty chair, a water bottle, a coffee cup and some sunscreen to slip, slop, and slap. We can't wait to see you there!
